today went for a wonder in victoria park (where the 'get off teh road!' scene was filmed-LOTR) didn't find teh spot, though we did get to teh very top look out place with amazing views over wellington. the city just sort of nestles in the hills surrounding teh bay.

cought the afternoon ferry and made our statly way to teh south island. it takes as long to get there as it does to cross teh channel. (3 hrs ish) is because we had to go through all teh sounds. stunning and beautiful all at the same time. so green! almost tropical.

anyhoo got in safely to picton and found hostel. very small and quiant. we managed to cook 500g of spagetti carbonara too (we forgot to halve teh packet)

tomorrow we hook up with the stray bus!
