We were woken up at 6:30 to get a good start on the day. We all had some breakfast and some people put a wetsuit on and got in for a swim, but i sat this one out and enjoyed the views whilst i ate. Some of the fish here are huge, and when it's just a dark shadow under the water it's pretty scary wondering what's going to pop up. I think my fish phobia just seems to be getting worse! We headed for the famous Whitsunday Islands National Park which had the most beautiful beach i've ever seen! White sands and clear blue sea in every direction. It was stunning. Polly had left us on the beach with a walky talky, a frisbee and a ball to keep us entertained, and in contact with them for when we wanted to leave the island. Polly and Moxy waited on the boat and prepped our lunch for when we got back. Before we came to the Whitsundays a few people had told me that it had rained when they visited, and i said if it's sunny when i arrive, i'll cartwheel down the beach. As you can tell from the photo, we arrived on a beautiful day, hence the cartwheel. Me and Kirsty walked about and took photos, and spotted a group of people in the water up to about hip height. We wondered in to see what was going on, and a couple of lemon sharks shot passed us. It was pretty cool, and we spotted Susy and Jo from Fraser Island and told them about them too. We went to find Joe who had managed to lose his flip flops. He had left them on the sand whilst he'd been in the water and come back and they had gone so the tide must have come in and washed them away. We thought this was hilarious. Not only was this the last place you'd think someone could lose something (it's literally just an island of sand) but also the sand was so hot he was struggling to walk on it. To make it even funnier for us, they were the only footwear he owned, as travelling life isn't about bringing multiple options. So had to go around barefoot until we got back on land the next day. After a couple of hours we got back on the boat, and Des forgot to sign back on board so had to do a mouthful of Veggiemite (Australian marmite) as this was the forfeit. A few of the boys got in to do paddleboarding but as we were only allowed a 30 second shower a day, and i had just taken mine and washed my hair, i gave it a miss. I sat with Kirsty and a few others at the back of the boat and watched the gorgeous sunset. We all had a few drinks and it eventually turned in to a bit of a party atmosphere. Cara, Kayleigh and Kirsty were all doing acrobatics off the ladders on the boat and Kirsty obviously managed to injure her ankle. She didn't notice the pain until we were heading to bed, probably due to the alcohol, and so Polly put some ice on it for her before we went to sleep. Another great night and day.
