We met up with our friend Yael in the morning who we knew from Fraser Island as she was on our Whitsunday's boat we were going on today. Yael brought a Welsh girl called Danielle along who she had met in the hostel and was also coming on our boat. We went to a liquor store to stock up for our trip as there was no alcohol sold on the boat. We decided to grab a taxi down to the harbour, although we were only allowed to take small bags with us, we weren't sure how far we had to go. It was only a ten minute drive and we decided to have breakfast at Bohemian cafe which was on the harbour. It was a really pretty cafe and had swinging hammock chairs outside with quite vintage decor. I had cream cheese on toast which was delish. Once we finished we headed to our boat and there were already people waiting there. Des, Koen and Sanna came and sat with us by the harbour whilst we waited to get on the boat. We got speaking to the others too. Joe from Cheltenham, Matt (American), An (Austrian), Cara (English), Kayleigh (American) and Andy (English), who were originally travelling alone but had started travelling as a trio. There were two couples, Claude and Andie and Joe and Camilla. Everyone seemed really nice, which was good news because we were going to all be spending a few days together on a small boat! We got on the Powerplay boat and met the two crew members, Polly (English) and Moxy (Australian). Polly was like the mum who looked after us, fed us, and made sure we all had a good time. Moxy was the captain. They were both really nice. We got put in to rooms. Me and Kirsty had to share with Des and Koen, who we had actually met the night before so that was fine. The cabins were small but we had a curtain to seperate the beds so it wasn't too bad and the guys were really nice. Our first stop was Blue Pearl Bay where we got a chance to snorkel. We got our wet suits on so we didn't have to worry about the jelly fish, as it is sting season. Me and Kirsty joked about looking like Scooba Steve in Big daddy. Moxy took us on a little boat just a bit further out so we could get in and look for some fish. One of my biggest fears is the sea, and i really don't like fish, so at this point i was already wondering what i was doing. I had to give it a go though. We all got in the water and within 10 minutes, me and Kirsty were back out after she started being hysterical about seeing a jelly fish, which then sent me in to panic mode. It was all rather embarrassing that we were the first two back in the boat, but also hilarious. We spotted some beautiful rainbow fish, clown fish (nemo) and some that looked like Dory too, which we loved, so made it worthwhile. When we got back to the Powerplay boat Polly made us all dinner, so we all sat around to eat and chat, and drink. Moxy did a slideshow for us, he was showing us where we were going to be visiting and which fish we could expect to see, but he made it funny, and we all got involved and had a laugh. We started some drinking card games and Joe was absolutely wasted. A couple of us went to lie on the nets at the back of the boat to watch the stars. I have never seen anything like it in my life, it was amazing. We could see the whole of the milky way, i felt like i was in space. Beneath me I could see the water splashing up the side of the boat under a light and lots of fish chasing it. This was the highlight of my travels so far. It was such a unique experience and no photos would have done it justice. I lay in the silence and enjoyed it, thinking how lucky i was to be here. After a while, I got up to leave and spotted Joe in the hot tub asleep. We managed to wake him up before any accidents happened, and everyone headed to bed. Today was such a great day!
