Lisa's Big Adventure
Las Vegas
Pippa, Lee, Jo and I headed off up the strip quite early, wanting to cover as much ground as we could that day. We bypassed the MGM since Pippa and I had been there day before and staying on that side of the road, made our way up the strip.
The Hightlights:
Paris was beautiful and I was blown away by the replicas of the Eiffel tour, Arc D'Triomphe and inside, the shopping area like the Champs Elysees.
The Venetian was defiantly one of my favourites. A canal ran from the outside and all throughout the casino, complete with gondolas. The Rialto Bridge was exceedingly lifelike and inside was just like St Marks Square. What amazed me was the ceiling, it was blue with fluffy white clouds that seemed to move at the same speed as the real sky. Breathtaking.
Caesar's Palace lived up to it's Roman theme with it's own colloseum and more replicas of real Roman monuments. Caesar's Palace had a fantastic shopping centre, even if it was completely out of my price range. Great to look at though.
The Bellagio is defiantly one of the most attractive casinos. It is for the sophisticated and needs no gimmicks or themes. I would have loved to check out the gallery but unfortunately there wasn't enough time. Going back at night was an absolute must to see the water fountains. Lee and I watched 2 songs, an Elton John and an Andrea Botticelli and we fell in love with the fountains. All I needed was for Brad Pitt and George Clooney to walk up and it would have felt like I was in Oceans 11!
New York New York was exactly how I expect New York to be. I was exhausted and would have loved to go listen in the bar where they sang Frank Sinatra tunes or checked out the Coyote Ugly bar but once again, not enough time or energy.
Excalibur was the King Arthur themed casino with it's turrets and medieval theme. It had jousting and all sorts of events going on inside which I would have loved to have seen.
Luxor was my last stop at about midnight because I wanted to see the Egyptian themed casino. The rooms are in the pyramid and a great big sphinx is the entrance to the casino. Inside are Egyptian statutes and everything is the golden colours I associate with Egyptian artefacts.
Amongst the casino visiting and shopping, I also managed to attend a Las Vegas show, "Splash". I'm pleased I saw it to say I saw a show in Vegas but it was very similar to the show I saw in Paris so could have done without it.
The highlights of the day were the Bellagio Fountains, the Venetian and the whole atmosphere of vegas. This is one place I intend to return to. One day was not enough to experience it completely.
