Lisa's Big Adventure
Well Prague... was just gorgeous. There is no other way to describe it. I was worried because everyone I spoke to raved about it but it lived up to all my expectations. It's entered the top 5 list - it was THAT good.
My travelling companions for the Easter weekend trip to the Czech Republic were Lis, Joel, Matt and Kel.
We arrived in Prague at about 10pm Thursday night and immediately went to our hostel. Lis, Joel and I had our own room so it felt more like a cheap hotel to us. There was a bar and bowling alley downstairs so we went and had a drink (and this was when we discovered just how cheap it was!) A cocktail cost £1. Bargain. We then crashed although because I was sharing a room with Lis and Joel we felt like it was school camp so we talked and giggled for a while before sleeping. Joel most of all.
Saturday we were out and walking around by 10am. The city was just beautiful and we couldn't get over it. We spent the day walking, crossed King Charles Bridge, visited the castle, shopped (I was disappointed cuz I found these gorgeous shoes for £15 but they didn't have my size), wandered the markets (I bought some lovely paintings) and discovered that we could eat really well very cheaply. The Czech's love their meat so it was fab. This set the tone for the weekend - the eating part I mean! We went to bed early as we had to be up at 6am the following day to go to Cesky Krumlov.
Saturday was spent in Cesky Krumlov and then when we arrived back in Prague we took a wander over the Charles Bridge (the large pedestrian bridge crossing the river) to see Prague by night before we discovered the best restaurant of all. It was gourmet quality food for bargain prices! Situated in the old town square we were able to watch the passers by while eating our way through amazing food. I have to tell you what I had - Prawn salad for starter, chicken stuffed with ham with basil potatoes and tomatoes stuffed with mushroom and cheese for main, and apple in puff pastry for dessert. Yummy. Plus a few cocktails. And the best part - the whole meal cost less than £15! For what we had, we would be looking at £50 plus in London!
Sunday we went out of Prague again to Kutna Hora and spent the day there, returning at about 8pm to have dinner in a little restaurant just outside our hostel.
Monday none of us had much energy so we checked out at 10am and then wandered. We first stopped at huge shoe store where I finally manged to buy a pair of shoes! (You may have noticed the recurring theme of Lisa and shoes in my travel diary). Lis, Joel and I all walked out with a pair of Sketchers for bargain prices. We then did some more shopping and I bought myself a lovely pair of silver dangling earrings for a whole £6! We had a late lunch and then it was time to head back to the hostel Lis, Joel and I all walked out with a pair of Sketchers. We then did some more shopping and I bought myself a lovely pair of silver dangling earrings for a whole £6! We had a late lunch and then it was time to head back to the hostel to collect our bags and head out to the airport.
As you may have gathered, I had a marvellous weekend. Great destination, great company and great food. What more could you want? And even with the shoes, paintings and earrings, I spent only £160 over 4 days - so even better. I'll be recommending Prague to everyone now!
