Day 9 - After the lack of activity on the previous day, we decided to be proactive and hired a car for a couple of days! I had the responsibility of driving????? Was quite weird picking up the car we asked for the smallest car, but ended up with a saloon ford focus, automatic of course! Weirdest thing about driving in America was not being on the opposite side of the road but not having to change gears, but after a few little hiccups when we were driving in the back streets, I got used to it and think I did a pretty good job driving (dunno if that's what the other girls thought). Headed for San Diego on the Freeway, would have probably taken us about 2 hours if we hadn't had a few detours due to missed turnings, but I managed to get us all there safely even though Americans all seem to drive like maniacs! Arrived to our hostel to a welcome of 'Dude', 'Sweet' and 'Awesome' was a proper surfers shack, easy to say we didn't really fit in, although the people were really nice and ended up being one of our favorite places. Had a stroll around the beach in the afternoon, then back to get ready for the keg party in the evening…so American! Keg party was pretty funny actually, nice chatting to some normal people, met some really nice English lads, even did a few drinking games.
