All right, I took a little hiatus from blog writing, but I'm back! We spent 3 nights on Amsterdam, and to be honest we really didn't do much. Our hostel was about 30 minutes outside the city, so getting into the dam was a pain. However, our place was like a hippie commune campsite and it was fantastic!
We had a little 2 person caravan, which there were caravans everywhere, and hammocks. There was also a caravan cinema room, and a lounge. Basically we relaxed and laid out in the sun. Slightly tanner than before, slightly burnt, some horrible tan lines from when I fell asleep outside on a stopover on the way to the dam. Oh well.
We left Lucky Lake (our hostel) yesterday morning around 9, then took a train to Amsterdam, then 4 more to get to Paris. Pain in the ass, this Eurail ticket. The station we got into (Paris Nord) was shady as all hell. I immediately knew it was not safe for us to be there at night (we got in at 920pm)
Trying to figure out how to get to Colombes was interesting, until a security guard came up and asked where we needed to go. He straight up told us to get in a taxi and to not be at that station cuz it's dangerous. Lovely. There were also cops swarming the place, not a good first impression, Paris!
€20 later, we got to the Courtyard Marriott that my dad used his points for. It's nice to be in a real building again, but the wifi here is annoying, to use a computer instead of my iPod is ridiculously expensive... And there's no free food here. Breakfast is €18. Don't hotels normally have free breakfast? So confused... Also, the light situation in our room is so strange. You have to keep your key card in the wall for the lights to stay on.
I was also hoping to do some laundry here, but to get it cleaned is €3 for a pair of socks... Really? F that... I washed my clothes in the tub with my laundry soap sheets. :) very classy.
4 more nights in Colombes, then we head to Italy! Another country where we can't talk to anyone :)
