Arrived in Auckland on Tuesday. Should have been Monday but due to our crossing of the date line we lost a day. Pretty good though as we managed not to spend a single penny of our daily budget! Now that we are back to civilisation, we are catching up on chores and Lisa is of course shopping. That days money saving was gone within 2 hours of getting into town. Her definitions of 'want' and 'need' seem to be pretty much the same thing, or maybe I am just a tight sod. After the shopping for 'essentials', the priority was to find a campervan for the next 6 weeks. A few of the travellers we met in the Pacific coming from New Zealand had bought rather than rented, so we went to a backpacker car market expecting to find a cheap van. There were cheap vans, but not a single one that I would trust to get me more than a mile up the road, so we have sorted out a rental one. We pick up the van at the end of the week, so a few days of sightseeing in this amzing city before we hit the road. Will update site later. S
