On Thursday we had another drive day as we headed towards Santiago and the end of this leg of the trip. We stayed the night in a place called Salta del Laja which is home to a mini Iguassu Falls. Next stop was Pucon which is home to the fairly spectacular 2,847m high Villarrica Volcano and the huge glacial lake below. The town has quite a ski-resort feel (although not as nice as El Calafate) and some great restaurants. Crossed the border into Chile and spent 1 night in Punta Arenas followed by 5 nights camping in Torres del Paine in Southern Patagonia. (And yes, I did say 5 nights camping, as in, in a tent!).
