I went to Dana Point today to go on a dolphin safari!! I've always loved dolphins, such elegant creatures who always look happy and I couldn't wait to go out to sea to see them in their natural habitat. Until this point I had only seen them performing in Orlando.

The boat we went in was ok and we went a mile out to sea. Didn't see anything for a while and was a little bit disappointed, but then the pod seemed to appear out of nowhere. They were beautiful - jumping so fast in and out of the water that it was hard to get a good photo. They swam beside the boat and seemed to be saying "hello" to us when they jumped out! There must have been at least 50 + just gorgeous.

Our guide says that dolphins are technically whales and part of the whale family. Hmm, give me a one of these guys over a whale any day!!
