We got to surf camp just after lunchtime and then settled our stuff in our rooms. It was quite a cosy place with basic stuff but it was only one night and seemed like it would be fun so it was fine. Then we had a briefing about the safety risks/general life threatening risks involved with surfing for about 45mins and then, I was pretty much surfing like the guy in this photo!
Or not... We got out to the beach and practiced getting up on the board, really easy actually... when you're on the sand and not on moving waves! We got out to sea, there were some really big waves and I'm sure professional surfers would love it and look amazing. I, on the other hand did not look too cool and drank a fair bit of sea water. It's really hard work too, getting back up to the waves, getting on the board, falling off, etc etc :) I managed to get up eventually with a bit of help from the instructor and would do it again, practice makes perfect and all that!
After that, I showered and we just sat around chatting until dinner a bit later. Then we all socialised and chatted to people but were shattered after an early start and hard work in the waves lol! We also had to be up for breakfast at 6am and then a bus to Sydney at 7am. We made it up in time and it's been a really long day but I'm now in sunny Sydney, waiting to meet up with my friend who's kindly putting me up for the 4 nights I'm here. I'm looking forward to exploring and am very tempted to explore the winery, surprise surprise.
I hope all is well in England and I'm hoping the sun will stay out here!
