I have had possibly the most terrifying day yet. I survived and it wasn't all bad but let's just say, the claw technique from skiing in the mountains has returned, ha!
We got to Cameron Highlands in the evening last night, there were windy roads but they weren't too bad and travel sickness pills and closing my eyes seemed to help. The hotel is basic, the rooms are basic but we're not there too much so it doesn't really matter. We all went out for dinner which was nice and tried the local speciality of a steam boat! This involved cooking your own dinner in a big pot. They prvided ingredients - the usual such as chicken, beef, fish and JELLYFISH!! I tried it and it wasn't too bad, not sure I'd be in a hurry to try it again though. Then we all played cards in the hotel which was good fun, and got an early night.
We had an early start this morning for a coach journey to the peak of a mountain which was 6,666 ft high! The journey was not fun, we were on the edge of the mountain, windy roads and being scared of heights didn't go down too well. The bus seemed to struggle up various steep points too. I think we all thought we might die, again, ha!! Once we were at the top, the best views were to be had at the top of a watchtower, this is where I almost freaked out and panicked. Again, I got over it, conquered my fear, took some photos (rather shakily) and proceeded to walk swiftly back down. Then we headed a bit further down for some jungle trekking which was wet and muddy and quite an experience. My main issue with that was the 20ft drop you'd see every now and again. I kept thinking, one slip and I could be a goner but needless to say I'm still here. Then we went on to a tea plantation and as probably all of you know, I don't like tea so the tea smell wasn't great but it was interesting learning about how it was all made etc.
After that, we headed to the butterfly and insect farm which was interesting. I saw my good old friend the python again, some snakes, spiders, lizzards, all sorts! I held some lizard thing too which was quite cute and a huge beetle which wasn't so cute! Some people held a scorpion but I decided not to go quite that far he he.
We've now just had lunch and are going to probably have a bit of a doze and then all go out for dinner for our last night here before heading to Kuala Lumpur! I tried to upload photos but this internet cafe doesn't seem to want me to, I will try soon though.
Hope all is well with everyone xx
