The overnight train to kaula lumpur was an experience, but a cheap way to travel and saved us a night at a hostel! We arrived at 6 in the morning and decided to walk to find some hostels we had been recommended. After 2 and a half hours of getting lost and back ache, we finally found a hostel we all liked and went to sleep til 4 in the afternoon! We went out to find our bearings, which naturally took us the the bars!We aquired a new friend at the Reggae Bar-"Jackie Chan"(Rob) who owned the bar and was a news reporter! We all had a good night after many tequilas and ended up with fellow backpackers on the rooftop of the hostel drinking dancing and singing! The view of the city was excellent at night.
Our love of fishies took us to the largest aquarium in asia, which had sharks, sting rays, sea turtles and many more, including nemo! We also watched them feed the sharks and we were then able to touch them from above!(However, the ones we touched were on a slightly smaller scale!) The aquarium was beside a shopping mall, which was a little out of our price range, prada, gucci, chanel etc. but it was nice to see Tom and Jordan smile!
The next day we got up very early to discover NOTHING WAS OPEN!It was a Hindu new year so most attractions that we wanted to see (which was a trek to get to) were not open! After all the failed attempts we discovered the biggest indoor theme park in south east asia!It was in the middle of a shopping mall (as we ate lunch a rollar coaster shot past our heads!). Jo went dizzy and had to skip a few rides(things that spin = puke!) but everyone carried on having fun as the inner kids in us came out!You definatly get your moneys worth (5 pounds!) as the rides lasted 5 times longer than british rides (puke).
The next day- ZOO DAY YAY!We saw lots of cool animals, giant turtles, alligaters, crocs, hippos, camels etc.. As we can only describe as a scene out of the lion king, we had a fantastic day!
As mummy loud used to live near kuala lumpur (seremban) we decided to go and have a look at where she used to live. It was hard to find the places where she lived, as we reckon so much has changed! We visited the army barracks where Jo's Grandad and Nana used to be based but no pictures allowed and we were scared of the man with the gun! So a quick look round to get a feel of the place and off we went back to kuala Lumpur. The rain poured thanks to Tom and Jordan's jinx (ooh i want rain!) so a night in it was with TV and cards...
Today we went to the Batu caves which was recommended to us!272 steps took us to the top where the caves began, avoiding killer monkeys ll the way up! The caves were stunning and Tom, Panda, Katherine and Jo paid to have an educational tour where we went into the dark caves, Jordan on the other hand was not so sure so opted for a "quiet time" outside. Wellies on, helmet with light on, off we went! Katherine conkered her fear of cockroaches and Panda overcome her fear of killer bats! Our guide was good, telling us everything about the caves history. She then turned our lights off and her torch and it was pitch black-scary!While we were deardevils in the cave, Jordan fancied a sprite. so took a little wander up the steps to get one. However on he way down, she felt something tugging on her dress. At first she thought it was a small child BUT NO-KILLER MONKEY!!!! She became instantly hysterical and the cave warden had to help her down the steps. Just when she thought she was safe, it came at her from the other side grabbing at the sprite!!! Cue more hysteria and more running away. Now back at the cave entrance waiting patiently and a little on edge for the others, a fellow visitor calmly informed her that the KILLER MONKEY was now sitting beside her DRINKING the sprite from the can!!!!! Yet more hysrteria and panic and screaming and crying.
As the others emerged from the dark dingy cave all smiles and laughter, Jordan was a nervous wreck and visibly traumatysied from the KILLER MONKEY!
We left straight away.
We are headimg for the planetarium tomorrow, as it was shut when we went! Our last day in kuala lumpur before heading to melaka on Sunday.
Love and miss you all
