In case you think you're having a bad week, this is a few very funny things (and not funny things) that have happened in the last week. Ok, really 5 days.
Showed up to visit Jared & Lovae (son & daughter-in-law) during their anniversary week (way to keep track Mom) and then forgot to leave the card we bought when we left. Had a wonderful visit and I found the true success to a woman: An awesome young man who married a great woman and is very happy with his life. What more can a mom want.
We traveled about 2 1/2 hours and passed 23 churches before we found someplace for breakfast. A wonderful little mom and pop diner that had The Christian Voice and our Daily Bread for table reading material and a huge sign that screamed "NO PROFANITY". It was a very silent breakfast.
On our way to our first campground for the month, we landed in Leesville, SC where we spent most of our 18 hours there in Lee's Tavern, enjoying the locals and a really decent band (even bought the young mans cd). Witnessed the bartender shotgun her first beer which is probably why she fed me free red bull and jaeger shots all night. Didn't plan on ending up in Leesville but the locals at another bar (very family oriented since there was a baby sitting on the bar) said where we were headed didn't have a motel. So we could either go 15 miles off course, or we could back track 45 miles to the big city....okey dokey, no prob. Woke up by some stupid woman knocking on the motel room door at 8AM looking for a cigarette (on a Sunday no less). We're still drunk, I'm starving, and discovered someone (???) had pee'd in the garbage can (which had tipped over onto Dave's shirts and socks.......quit laughing cuz I know you are! Damn red bull and jaeger (love it but it makes me do crazy crap apparently)! I'm taking the blame cuz Dave only had beer and sometimes you just gotta take one for the team!
We head off to Thomson, Ga about 10 miles from our new campground knowing we have to grab a room since the campground reservations aren't until Monday. Well the buzz wore off about half way there and we showed up a bit grumpy...ok, Dave a little tired and me a melted down b**** from hell...Poor Dave. Pull into the econo lodge (you know the one - $39.95 for one, add $10 for me). Even when I think I plan everything down to the smallest detail, the big picture totally eludes me sometimes. It's Master's Golf week and we're 30 miles outside Augusta so the nice man behind the counter said this room (on the second floor) we could have for this one night for the bargain price of $110.00!!!!
Next morning headed to camp after the grocery store and everything is running like clockwork. Pull into the campground and one sign says sites 1-17 and the boat ramp turn right, and one sign says sites 18-55 and dump station turn left. No surprise which way we turned. The campsite was perfect, even if the hike to the toilet is uphill and quite a walk. We need the exercise anyway. The view of the lake is awesome until 2:44 in the morning when I'm quoting the ranger "The one storm we have every year that's deadly"! 60 mph plus sustained winds, 80 mph plus gusts, lightning like we've never seen before, tornado warnings, a river running through the tent and we can hear tree's dropping around us. Then the electricity goes. At one point it sounds like a freight train is running through the tent. I've been afraid before in bad weather but I swear it's the only time I thought I pooped my pants and actually had to check the next morning.
Morning brought a sigh of relief; no poop in the pants and we made it through alive. The neighbors in the next site said they kept checking out their window all night to make sure the tent trailer was still there. I love the people we meet. Everybody cares out here. The campground was locked down with fallen trees for most of the day (a 100 ft tree fell in the site on the other side of ours). Over 100,000 people without electricity. We were so incredibly blessed that night. 6 people lost their lives in the surrounding areas from fallen trees and they were in homes and cars.
After that, my dear friends and family, I want you all to know that I love you, miss you and each of you holds a piece of my heart. And now to my parents, I'm sorry, I miss you all and I wish you nothing but love, laughter and blessings for the rest of our days. We never know which day will be the day we won't be able to say the things we should and just can't.

Tom & Nan Deb, you got such a way of with words that I'm closing my eyes and sittin' on a picnic table with you and Dave and Tom... I really miss those days.. but I'm really glad we weren't in the lot beside ya on this one. And even more happy that you weren't either. Love you guys. Can't wait for the next chapter :)
