So we start this next update about where the last one left off....freezing our asses off! Left Moss Point Mississippi with a hard freeze on the trailer and the wind blowing gale force but at least the sun was shining! There's always a bright side to every cloud....yep, I keep blowing that smoke up my ass hoping it will stick.
Stopped and visited our good friend Terri in Florida and had a blast even though it never got warm..... Seriously, isn't Florida where all the snow birds go in the winter...well they got robbed this year because it was cold from the moment we crossed the state line in the panhandle and when we left mid state 5 days later, I swear it was colder. Did a few home improvement projects for her and did a day of bar hopping. Loved the dinner at Amvets and the Bingo even if we didn't win a damn dime and it cost us a small fortune to play..... Great way to earn money for the post, but WOW, 8 games, two people playing two games each time at a dollar a game...yea it adds up but seriously had some fun. One of the vets hooked me up with some herb so of course, I LOVED the last three days we were there. My Dave barbecued a couple of nights and it was the bomb diggity....he can cook me a steak or ribs any damn time he wants...we just have to visit friends with grills.... Let me know if you all are up for a visit and have a grill...lol
Took off from Terri's hoping our luck had changed and we made it about 45 minutes and then fate rears it's ugly head.....flat tire on the trailer....no big deal except the Walmart we need is at the exit behind us (I can see it from where we pulled over under the over pass) and the nearest way to get back to it is 15 miles down the road to the next exit and then back. Still no problem....well maybe a small problem, 7 tire changes in front of you at Walmart...big problem! I'm sitting on the side of the freeway waiting and a two hour wait isn't going to happen. So a new tire and rim has to be bought...$90 but since it's our first flat in 6 years on the road, damn, we are quite blessed with this one....
Stopped to fill the t-bag with beer and ice and yea for me, they're 12 ounce beers,....boo for me, there're time dated for last October.....if you know my Dave, you know he can tell any beer that is more than two months old and even though I couldn't tell the difference, he could....no upside on this one except maybe I get to drink more since their old ones....
Made our 310 miles that day and died once we ended in Blackshear Georgia!
Today was BRUTAL!!! It was raining when we started out and 38 degrees....by the time we made it 20 miles we were drenched and frozen. We made it 92 miles and stopped for the night. We have ridden in the rain (a buttload of places), we have ridden in freezing temps (Montana), but when you put them together, it's almost not doable....ALMOST.... even at 60 and 70 years of age, we still push through!! Then we have the best for last....we pull into the hotel where we have reservations and every space in the entire parking lot with the exception of the handicapped spots (good for us) are filled with Highway Patrol or Sheriff Department cars....we've landed dead in the middle of a convention. We are the only people here not wearing a uniform. We have a gun so we fit right in on that one and thank you, thank you, thank you common sense for stopping me from purchasing herb at our last stop......lol
And here ends this leg of the saga..... Hope you enjoy it with us! Remember if you're reading this through facebook, you have to click on the travelpod link to read the comments on the pictures....
