And we have started!
Wednesday Sept 1 (Brisbane Time) Chris and I are lying awake at 4am excited and nervous at the start of our big adventure.
We finally hit the road at 8.30am and make it to the airport. Even the woman at the check in is impressed with the itinary! After the obligatory wine we head off through customs and onto NZ136 on our way to New Zealand. I settle down quite nicely with a gin and tonic (only ever drink them in the sky) and Sex in the City 2. Both Morghan and Ella are happily watching Rug Rats. No idea what Chris is doing but I did see some Rum and Cokes go his way!
We make it to Auckland with no drama's. We then get to spend the next four hours wandering Auckland airport .........Not Changi but no where near as bad as Nadi where we have been delayed in the past!
Then we bored NZ2, Morghan and Ella's first ride in a 747. By this stage the exhustion of the last two days had hit and shortly after dinner I fell asleep. No idea when Chris and the kids fell asleep but when I woke up six hours later they were asleep. As we desended into LA we could see the Hollywood Sign, very cool!
Finally made it to our hotel and checked in, and wandered down to Hollywood Bld. There we sat at a resturant looking over the Hollywood sign, once again pinching myself. We did a quick tour of the stars and then come back to the hotel for what would be a 14 hour sleep.
Woke up at ten the next morning ....jetlagged kids can be an advantage. We had the all American Breaky of Eggs Toast, Pancakes and coffee ....nothing done by halves here but at least we didn't need lunch.
We made our way back down to Hollywood Bld and saw the Kodak Theatre, Graumans Chinease Theatre with all the handprints and more stars! We then went on a tour of the stars, which I swore I would never do but this is Hollywood baby and I know that you all dying to know what Brad and Ange's house looks like , well they sold it. But I must say Jackie Chan had a nice home and so does Simon Cawll. However I also realised that some of the homes in Brisbane are about the same size and these houses look very simular to those on the Gold Coast Canal Estates!
As it was so warm we decieded to return to the hotel for a swim, which Ella loved!
We then headed out in the late afternoon to Guisness World Record's Mueseum, which Morghan loved!
Afterwards it was time for dinner .... where else Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood. Very cool but the meal was huge and yes I couldn't eat it all! Chris did and he is suffering. Oh and cocktails ...I promised Alice I would have one for her birthday!
Anyway after a long and hot day we have managed to put our little people to bed, so guess where I am headed???
Toomorrow Univerdal Studio's ....Very Cool!
