Lake Taupo is the largest freshwater lake in Australasia. Unfortunately, when we arrived we could only see a couple of feet out and it looked like the sea. The views would have been amazing.

We asked Tourist Info what to do in the rain, they were hopeless so we decided to go to Taupo Hot Springs. This was outdoors but the water was warm so we guessed it would be ok. I did notlook forward to stripping off into bikini in the pouring rain but the hot pools were great. In fact they were too warm. Boys kept themselves entertained with the warm water hydroslide.

We camped in a carpark by the lake.
