We started the day only 3 hours from Stockholm and unable to check in at the next campsite until after 4pm so we let the kids choose what to do with our free morning.
They both chose swimming. The pool was great, specially designed for kids with lots of different types of slides and floats. Everyone in Scandinavia speaks English which had lulled us into a false sense of security because when the tannoy system spoken in Swedish we just ignored it. The next moment the whole pool transformed into a dummy sea with waves knocking us off balance and breaking on the pool edge. The kids loved it briefly then wanted to get out (to be honest I did too) so with two kids clinging to me I bobbed through the waves to shore. Just as I reached shore the waves stopped completely n the kids wanted to go back in stating that their fingers weren't wrinkled so they hadn't been in the water long enough.
Eventually I got them out of the swimming pool with the lure of an ice-cream at the motorhome.
We left camp at 1pm with a sleeping Edward and drove for about an hour. The problem driving through Sweden is that, even though it's beautiful, the scenery is alway the same..forest, lake or forest & lake. It seems to take so long to get anywhere.
We had lunch at a service station since we needed more bread to make our own. At least we now know that pre-packed sandwiches are a rip off from services worldwide not only UK!!
The final drive into Stockholm was busy, until here there were hardly any cars on the road since hitting Scandinavia but Stockholm at rush hour in the rain isn't a pleasant drive....I don't suppose anywhere in rain and rush hour is.
At 7pm we arrived at camp and set up. We haven't looked round camp yet but it seems an odd little mix of riverside wild life yet on the edge of a really urban area. Instead of exploring we got tea ready for us and Rox & John our first house guests.
After tea had settled they left taking Kayla with them (I think she will be glued to one of them at all times while we are here). So me and ed have lounged around reading 'there's a shark in the park' over and over until we can recite it word for word and now he's crashed out for the day. I think I will too yawn.
Trip status, 198miles covered today meaning 0miles out of 1400 left. Woohoo we're here :)
