The trip for Ko Sumui was supposed to be in a VIP bus but unsurprisingly we ended up crammed in a mini bus for 9 hrs. Oh what fun! Me and Brett were squashed into the front together one of us in the seat the other on my engine trying to steer clear of the gear stick. We got the boat over to Ko Sumui which thankfully was pretty smooth and arrived at our nice bungalows right on the beach! We spent most of our time on the island lazing around on the beach and eating at this really nice place on the beach. I also ate an entire pineapple from a man walking along selling them which was quite a feat.
We decided to go look at a waterfall that you can swim in one day and ended up walking 1.5km up massive rocks to get to it. We had a Thai guide which was helpful optherwise we would never have made it. It was exhausing and there were bits of rope to help you climb up the vertical bits. Finally we reached the top and it was definately worth it. I thought I was going to pass out but the cool water at the top was so refreshing. After staying for 1/2 hr we started to come down and the Thai bloke took us a different way where we got to see some really good views of the island and also jumped across some rapids which was exhilerating!
One evening we went to see Thai Boxing! Well it was certainly different. It's more like a martial art with kicking and the bit at the beginning where they step into the ring involves head dresses and a certain amount of parading around trying to look threatening. First up there were 2 boys about 10 yrs old. Well they were trying to punch each others brains out and the one that lost cried on the referee at the end! Then there were adults. It was interesting to go and seee but I didn't enjoiy watching people smacking the hell out od each other particularly and we left after the first 5 pairs. Oh and that night is where my ongoing toilet saga began...!!!
