Well the flight over here was really nice...like their version of EasyJet but a million times better with nice food and endless drinks. We managed to get the bus from hte airport to Orchard Road for $1.80 even though the taxi drivers were tellingus it'd cost $35! Then we walked for what seemed like miles to the hostel. Everything is in English over here and I keep forgetting there is no toilet paper and I can't drink the water which is a pain in the arse. Anyway this country is like an oven. It was 35 degrees when we stepped off the plane yest and that was 6.40pm. The heat just hits you and it's horrible humid heat as well. Thank God our room has air conditioning although once you've been in it 2 mins you don't realise it and fry again. I couldn't sleep for ages last night and in the end was lying spread out practically naked! ANyway I am up early this morn and looking forward to another nice cold shower. We had a Thai for dinner last night that cost $5.50 (less than 2 quid) that was delicious. Anyway we are off sight seeing today as Nisha and Sonal have already seen quite a bit so they are the tour guides. Anyway this internet bit (that's free right ourtside our bedroom door) is baking so I'm off for a shower. I just hope I acclimatise over the enxt few days or it cools down cos there were times last night I just wanted to go back to Australia where they have breathable air!
Our 1st full day and I can survive the heat in the day with regular sessions in air conditioned places! We went to Sentosa Island and went in the sea which was as warm as a bath. We went on the skyrail and then came down in the luge which was really fun. We also went to see a Hindu temple and a Buddhist temple and looked around the night markets which was extremely hectic with people everywhere. I did buy a necklace though, the girl sold it to me with marketing like I've never heard. It can be worn 5 different ways and is pretty impressive! Well I am up this morning and actually had a pretty good sleep last night. It rained in the evening and was slightly cooler which helped. Today we're off to Little India, Clarkes Quay, andChinatown!
Well Little India and Chinatown were mini versions of each country and interesting to see. I had a Japanese for dinner though this really nice chicken curry stuff I had in Japan. Then in the evening we went to the Raffles!! I had a Singapore Sling and Louise got a free bit of Cheesecake with a candle when she said it was her bday! It was delicious and very posh in there.
