Well on the way to Queenstown we stopped off at a salmon farm and fed the salmon- never realised how big they were! The coach also wouldn't start, eventually the driver got it going and we drove the final hr with the back open so the engine could cool off!!
Our 1st day we went on a 12hr trip to Milford Sound- we had to go through the Homer Tunnel, and saw lots of birds that are like Kiwis but aren't and I can't remember their names eating peoples car window wipers- apparently they like rubber! We went on a boat trip and saw some of the best scenery there is. Also saw a seal on a rock and a waterfall that is higher than the Niagra Falls. The boat went right to the bottom of it and we got a bit wet!
Day 2 in Queenstown we went on the Shotover Jet- the World's fastest jet boat ride! It was raining a bit but Brett was sat at the edge and got soaked! It was really good, whizzing around just missing the rocks! Not scary but exciting! Oh now...the scary stuff came in the afternoon- dedededeeerrrrr...HORSES!! Never knew how frightening they are! We went to the Shotover Stables and spent an hr on a horse!! My one was called Ziggy and Brett's Chief, Chief was massive! It was so funny looking at Brett on a horse- very Brokeback Mountain! We trotted for a bit which was petrifying, and then the one faster than that, then the dog saw a dead sheep and barked and all the horses jolted and Brett screamed!!! My horse wouldn't stop eating all the way around and Brett's lagged behind! Then the van we were being dropped off in wouldn't start and we had to push it in hte mud. It rolled back into some bales of hay and broke the rear light, and I got covered in mud as the back wheel spun!!! Had to have a shower with my clothes on when we got back!!
Day 3...Brett did the Canyon Swing...how I will never know, its a 600m drop and then a swing in a Canyon! He had to jump off the 1st time and I could see him bending his legs to jump and then not going a few times, you realise how far down it is when you see the people swinging and they are so tiny against the rocks! The screams really echoed too, I was scared just watching! The 2nd one he was tied to a chair and went off backwards, the screams were of shear terror!! I was even more petrified that afternoon when I went paragliding. Not as scary but I don't like heights and had to run off a mountain over 600m high!! Enjoyed the last few mins and the views were really good of the Remarkables but I was shaking!!I even let the man do a spiral where you spin around really fast and that was scary! Was so glad I did it though. That evening we rewarded ourselves with a pizza from Winnie's. It was the nicest pizza ever and recommended to us by the kayacking man from Franz Josef. Also had another pint of Monteith's (I feel I have an obligation!!!)
