Well we went to Penang for 3 nights and went up Penang Hill which was good but would have been better if we hadn't had a massive downpour and mist so we could see stuff. The train ride up wa slightly hair raising and we were packed in like sardines. We also had to queue for ages to get down and loads of people were pushing in. I think we really are the only country that knows how to queue properly. We also went on a tour around Penang which was good and we saw all the beaches as we wre staying in Choinatown. We went to th shop oned by some Chinese man who's made millions selling nutmeg oil. I got some for my bites and it really does work. We also tried some lychee which was really nice and some rambutan which was also good. Penang was much more built up than I thought it would be.
We decided to make this our last place in Malaysia and head straight to Thailand as we were all getting frustrated as it's so hard to organise or do anything in malaysia. Also the stench and dodging the un capped drains was starting to get annoying!
the mini bus trip from penang to phuket took 19 hrs and was hell on earth. I managed to get a cold from air conditioning and we were cramped in and changed buses 4 times. I did make friends with a nice old muslim man I was squashed in next to though. He wsa very intersting to talk to and told me to hurry up and get married! He also gave me some perfume!
Overall I was plesaed to get out of Malaysia and head somewhere more catered towards backpackers.
