Adventures As Lewis
The 8th Day of the Feast is an amazing and wonderful day that represents the future of the world, the future of all mankind, our destiny, why we were born, so many wonderful things to come! The future that it represents is a wonderful thing, but it is so difficult to say goodbye. It's difficult to have one last hurrah, one last moment together, one last meal, one last cappuccino in Italy when you know you have to let everyone go, you have to say your goodbyes, you have to give one last hug. And then what if you miss a hug? What if you forget someone and then you don't see them again for a very long time? These things go through my mind, and no matter how tired I was at the end of the night, I always want to hang on a little while longer. We said a quick goodbye to Michael and Lauren who had to leave for Rome. They were to fly out the following morning and thought it might be nice to be closer to the airport. And then they were off to Seattle and back to the daily grind. I'll miss them. I've known Michael at least half my life. We've had many adventures together and this was the closing of one more. They left before the ceremonial balloons and musical accompaniment commenced soon after the second service was over. Mr. Anastasi also quoted scriptures, or rather rephrased some greetings and goodbyes that are meant to encourage brethren. It was really something beautiful. We all lined up for a few goodbye photos as the sun set over the waters. We spent as much time as we could on the beach taking pictures, enjoying the salty sea, and conversing for a few more moments. After sunset we had some coffee with friends, dinner with a wonderful family, and then spent our last few hours getting some advice from those who have been there and done that, and fighting off sleep knowing very well that the next morning would come way too early. What a wonderful time!
