“On the first day there shall be a holy convocation, and on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation for you. No manner of work shall be done on them; but that which everyone must eat—that only may be prepared by you. So you shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for on this same day I will have brought your armies out of the land of Egypt. Therefore you shall observe this day throughout your generations as an everlasting ordinance" (Exodus‬ ‭12:16-17‬). Today we feasted. We gathered together in the same small upper room we met in to observe the Passover. This time with five additions to our group. Our good friends Darren and Amber, and their tiny baby girl, who currently live in Jordan, added to our numbers. They also brought with them their visiting relatives from my home state of Washington, Dan and Emily. In total we managed to fit 21 of us (including two adorable babies) into the meeting room. Every male present had a part to play in the service and every part added perfectly to the whole. We learned about faith and compassion as well as forgiveness and change. Our spiritual feasting, as always, included hours of fellowship before and after services, an absolutely essential element in a healthy spiritual body consisting of many parts. Danielle came through for us yet again with her delicious Mediterranean salads. Israel has wonderfully flavorful and very fresh produce. We had so much we couldn't finish it all. Our hope is to take some of our leftover produce with us on the rest of the trip. God's Feasts are both spiritual and physical feasts and He has provided for us plenty. “Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine" (Proverbs‬ ‭3:9-10). As the evening ended, we gathered for a short lesson about God's calling of the Gentiles through the story of Peter and Cornelius. Tomorrow we head to Caesarea, the port city that was the Roman centurion's home where God's power was given to the Gentiles in a profound and obvious display of spiritual gifts. “And as he talked with him, he went in and found many who had come together. Then he said to them, “You know how unlawful it is for a Jewish man to keep company with or go to one of another nation. But God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean" (Acts‬ ‭10:27-28‬).
