I went over to Sobaeksan on my first day in Danyang, and despite the locals advice to catch the bus I'd decided to go for the 8k walk through the villages to get there. About half an hour into the walk I regretted it though, as instead of the comfortable glimpse I was hoping for, I was met by a bunch of rabid looking dogs, brooding at my stroll through their town. The bigger ones were chained to their dog houses though so didn't have to pick up the pace too much... Once I'd reached the top of Sobaeksan I could only see about 15 metres in any direction due to the foggy sessions at the peak.
I met a 38 year old local later who invited me out with her and her chums. The table were getting through the bottls of soju, one of which was delivered to the table with a pair of socks from a lady saying to me 'Christmas' - merry times!
Just before I left the guesthouse the next day the owner asked if I'd feature in a photoshoot with her, advertising Sapporo! After fumbling the first couple shots as my hand was covering the Sapporo logo we got the au naturel shot she was hoping for on the third, and I caught my bus over to Seoul!
