The main reason for my visit to Andong was to get the bus over to Hahoe Folk Village, the area that's best retained the traditions of old (1500s - 1800s) Korea. There are other villages in the land that have kept the old style in tact but this is the only one with older generation Koreans living there. They even follow the same limited/staple diet, and so they're all really short! I strolled around the village for a bit and went over to a traditional mask show they had on. It was pretty odd to see an old man wearing a mask holding a donkey k*** to the crowd, but was pretty entertaining, even without subtitles.
Got back to the guesthouse and had a few drinks with a Thai girl who'd just arrived and the two brothers who owned the guesthouse. One of which had chosen his English name to be Peter Pan.
I spent my last day in Andong in the soju museum where they're famous for their 45% potion. Luckily I'd gotten into the museums sample section just before these boys from the military, as they came, they saw, and they cleared them out!
