Shortly after arriving I met my last couchsurf host in Japan, Takoyuki, who took me round the town showing sites ranging from shrines to sex shops. So much effort had been put into halloween costumes so it was a shame I couldn't match them and slip into scoobs again... We went for a couple brews and ended up in a Yatai - outdoor tents serving ramen, sushi and sake. Had a good laugh with Takoyuki but unfortunately he had the nervy meet with the girlfriends parents the following eve so he could only host me the one night.
The next day I checked into a hostel and went to meet Cahill. I reckon it'd been a couple years but after being on the road for a few months knew it would feel pretty odd seing a fairly familiar face. We had a sound catch up and she showed me Fukuoka's answer to Shoreditch. We went to a couple bars that she regularly attended and James walked in holding up the work visas they both needed to live in Japan. I didn't want to 3rd wheel the celebrations so moved on to another bar and met a guy that had cycled round the world and said if I was about the following night, I could've met one of the guys on the Italian Tour de France team! Unfortunately the nature of my Japan trip was to move fast, so I headed over to Shimonoseki the next day, had a taste of the poisonous puffa fish and hopped on the boat to Korea!
