Lesson learnt - complain more often.
We moved into a swanky hotel room this morning as a result of a previous complaint about the intoxicated staff in another Nomads Hostel. It was Bliss. Unfortunately we couldn't chill all day in the king size bed watching the flat screen as we had a task to complete.
Task - Find the Indian Embassy and get a Visa.
What we thought would happen:
- Walk into our pre-booked appointment past the crowd.
- Hand over the relevant documents.
- Walk out with our visas.
What happened:
- Walked in, sat and waited.
- Told we hadn't brought the online application and we needed to do this and print it off (we weren't applying online, we were applying in person!).
- Went to a nearby Internet cafe.
- Applied and printed documents after the computer freezing many times. Costing us $7!
- Returned to queue.
- Find out we need our Australian visas. Matt's is in his bag at the hotel.
- Go to print again.
- Called for our appointment.
- Told we have to leave our passport their for 10 days. We thought they would just check it was us as they have all the details. We fly to Perth tomorrow!
- Walk out without a visa as we didn't dare chance not having our passports in Perth.
- Plan to try again in Perth.
After our dilemma of whether or not to go to India, this is a set back. We are really pushing it now to book flights and trains. However, there is nothing we could of done differently.
The best thing about a private room..... A real towel.
