Nervous Turkey!
The twins have arrived!! Welcome to the world Sidney & Sonny.
After yesterday's hangover day and neither couple having a phone to take any contact details for the other, Lucy and James came looking for us today. Luckily we opened our door at the right moment as they had been given the number opposite ours by reception.
Reluctant to get a bike because of all the bandages hobbling about, however, also realising we would definitely not get to see any of the island without one, we gave in. It became very clear to us that the bandaged people are probably not part of an accident but probably sustained their injuries from the bike skidding sideways on the sandy roads. Luckily our moped had off road tyres so we were able to enjoy the terrain.
The roads to Mango Bay were seriously motor cross, but we managed to stay upright. Although Char and Lucy did have to climb the monstrous hills as Matt and James flew up them stating that it wasn't safe to have two people on the back for certain parts....cheers boys.
One of our main reasons for coming to Koh Tao was to complete our PADI diving course. However on our way to the island we were told of a story. A German girl had died the previous week and a Thai woman in August from the sting of a box jellyfish. The most toxic creature in the world. In Australia, the seas are empty at certain times of year due to these however with no certainty over seasons or conditions here yet there is little in place. After some self research it turns out that in previous years there have been deaths but only now are vinegar stations starting to go up in some places. Yes we know that this is probably a very rare incident and we know how many people go in the sea everyday and we know these jellyfish feed from the shallows so you are better at deep sea but with already a large disliking to jellyfish we would just rather not bother.
So today we just sunbathed.
On return to the town, we decided it was beer o'clock, however with the four of us trying to save some money we purchased a bottle of rum from the 7/11 and chilled on the beach. The bottle of rum turned into beers on beach, which turned into buckets watching fire dancing at the rock, beer pong and buckets in fish bowl, 7/11 for more rum by the pool.
At 4.30am it was a long walk home from James and Lucy's.
