Nervous Turkey!
With one more day in Vientiane, it seemed too much. The only main attraction was to visit the COPE Centre which supports people affected by unexplored bombs left from the Vietnam War. When America left Vietnam, they dumped the left over ammunition on Laos because it was not safe to land with it onboard. This bombing went on constantly for 7 months and more bombs were dropped on Laos in this time than the total amount of bombs used by all sides in WW2. This means that to this day, many people are still injured or killed by unexplored bombs when working the land. Laos weren't even involved. On trying to find the centre, we walked an hour and a half the wrong way due to our awesome map reading skills.
On the look out for some live music, we entered the only bar with people in. It turned out we were the only non-locals. The music was ok, but the people watching was unreal. One thing we didn't understand was...do these people not have work in the morning?! Everybody was blathered. However we got a brilliant idea for a bar in Leeds, you say how many beers you want for the night when you walk in and these are put in a crate (beer fridge) at the end of your table so you can help yourself. Genius idea, no bar staff really required.
