The guitar made it as hand luggage. Not even mentioned or questioned. We even got the emergency exit seats with the extra leg room. Luck is with us today.

On first impressions on arrival in Vientiane the sun is so powerful. Hotter than the core of the earth it seemed as we had a wander around the city in the midday peak. We finally got seated alongside the Mekong for our 3rd sunset by its side. The day almost seemed to go too perfect. Wait for it......
The beds in the hostel had no mattress but a plank of wood. What you would image in a prison. Trip advisor has let us down this time. This was not all. An occasional uncomfortable nights sleep can be expected when backpacking but at 2am we awoke to somebody trying the lock repeatedly and trying to intrude. This happened a few times and on inspection it was some Chinese people who had arrived late and didn't know where their room was. But even after seeing us in the room they still kept trying. What is that about?!
