From Singapore I took a train north into Malaysia to Kuala Lumpur. The journey took all day after making it across Singapore to the station and to my hotel, yes I said hotel, in Kuala Lumpur. Having reached my hotel it took forever for them to find my reservation..... That would have been because I booked for 2013 instead of 2012 (blonde moment)! However, once settled in my own room it was brilliant! The first time I hadn't had to share a room in months!
Day one in KL I went to the central market and china town to look around the stalls, although bought very little. Then it was off to see the KL tower.
Day two I got up very early to go to the KLCC towers. I knew I'd have to queue for a ticket to go up and despite getting there 1 1/2 hours before it opened i still wasn't the first in the queue. Although I did get a ticket to go up and look over the whole of KL.
In the afternoon I meet Eugene, who took me out of the city go up to the Genting Casino in the mountains. We had lunch and then went to go into the casino and they refused to let Eugene in as he didn't have long trousers on , but would let me in with shorts on?! So instead we sat in Starbucks in the mountains and chatted.
Day three Eugene collected me from my hotel and we headed to the Batu Caves, a Tamil Temple on the outskirts of KL. We had to walk up over 200 stairs and whilst doing so a monkey frightened the life out of me as I didn't see it until it was only inches away from my face! Then I got some Henna on my hand.
On day four Eugene and I travelled south to Malaka. We looked around at the whole town, old churches, temples and ruins. I tried rice balls and chicken at a place famous in the area for the best AND managed to eat my whole meal with chopsticks, a big accomplishment for me!
Later in the day I tried Durian fruit with ice dessert, but didn't like it. We saw St Paul's church and San Diego gate, also known as A'famosa.
I saw lots in and around KL thanks to my great tour guide.
