Off to Yosemite National Park today. Had a 6 am pick up and a 300km bus ride. Only a small bus and was full. I got stuck next to an elderly Japanese woman.
Slept for an hour or so then we stopped at a small town for breakfast and coffee. Went to a supermarket and used their SCO's. Same as ours but with space for 3 bags.
Back on bus for another 95 miles (about 150 km's)
Finally got their and first stop was Giant Sequina trees. These are 1000's of years old and 1 of them had been cut through so you walked through it. Massive. The walk to there was down a steep steep hill so coming back was a killer it was pretty warm and was high altitude so no air to breath in. Was pretty tough but made it ok.
Next went to the main look out to see the 3 attractions, El Capitan, Half Dome and Bridevil Falls. There was no falls at this time of year as summer just ended but the other views were amazing. I reckon better than the Grand Canyon.
After this we went to the lodge and had a few hours free time to look around, go in the river etc. I found a nice spot near the river and put some of Grandma & Grandad's ashes there.
After this we headed back. It was 3 pm and driver said we wouldn't be back before 9 pm as traffic would be worse and we had to drop everyone off and I was one of the last.
Drive home was pretty long and terrible, I had the woman next to falling asleep and leaning on me the whole time. We also stopped at the small town again for dinner because the driver kept raving on about this great Mexican restaurant, I reckon he was on commission. I didn't have anything I just got a drink from the supermarket.
Anyway got back about 9pm. Really long but good day about 400 miles in total (640 km's) but was well worth it.
