A storm started in the middle of the night with thunder lightening and horrendous rain keeping some of us awake. It was not a good night for sleeping in the saloon. The morning was dull and uninspiring but it stopped raining and the runners went off to do a Strava segment . Jenny and I walked/jogged to the shop to get bread, chocolate and bait. We were successful with our shopping and met the runners on the way back. They were less successful at downloading their Strava segment , so all their wasted effort!
We motored off and put the sails up but there wasn't much wind and an occasional shower.
We nearly lost Simon when they decided to have a swim in the calm waters and the wind suddenly picked up, but was saved by Dave throwing him a rope. A lunchtime stop in Tomb Bay a picturesque spot . We walked up to The Tombs to do a geocache. After a wrong turning we managed to find a stoney track up and Beth found the cache. The sun was now warm and we did some swimming and canoeing . The short sail to Kapi Creek was very windy and we reached 9.2 knots with Elly was on helm. The manoeuvre into our mooring was a complicated manoeuvre and we upset a German woman who was very assertive and told us that we had to be gone by 9am to let her cameraman out. We prepared our evening meal on board and went for a cocktail making contest. It is usually between the different boats but today it was between our girls against our boys and of course the girls won with their "Kapi Sinker " a green and orange tropical cocktail that tasted delicious. We should have saved the recipe.
We went back on board and played Jenny's word game and the nominations for the Don't Panic award were Elly for steering the boat to 9.2 knots and Dave for saving Simon, the award was won by Elly.
A late night rummage through the bins deserves a mention . When Jenny's eclairs were passed around Graham could not resist. There should be s health warning on theses sweets as they remove fillings! When Graham announced he had lost his filling I did't take much notice . It wasn't until late at night that we realised it was his expensive crown and it had been thrown in the bin and maybe it could be re used . Hence the scrabble through the bins . Luckily Dave's trip to the bins hadn't emptied all the rubbish so crown was duly recovered and returned to its owner for safe keeping.
