This morning the sun was shining and we enjoyed a breakfast outside with the lovely backdrop of the mountains. However the staff seemed unable to cope with our party of 16 all wanting breakfast at the same time, so our departure was somewhat delayed.

Today was going to be spent mostly travelling along the scenic route 62 through the mountains of the Little Karoo. We travelled through vast areas of vineyards and orchards then through magnificent mountain scenery. After stopping for lunch we eventually turned off Route 62 down a track at Calitzdorp mid afternoon.

We were all glad to get on our bikes and get the legs moving after the long time spent in the bus. The ride once again involved a long uphill . The scenery however was stunning and stops to take photos of ostriches and mountains.

Our stay tonight was at the de Poort country Lodge which was situated in a stunning garden amongst the mountains. Our upstairs room with a thatched roof had its own balcony, but it was getting late and now quite chilly so no sitting outside but a quick glass of sherry on the lawn before we showered to rid ourselves of the dust we had accumulated.
The restaurant tonight was close by and yet another excellent location . Tonight we decided to try the Ostrich steak which was very tasty and the first pudding of the holiday , so we have been quite good.
