Today we are leaving Hong Kong. The ultra efficient Hong Kong travel network allows you to book your luggage in at the railway station in the centre of Hong Kong so you can make your way to the airport without your luggage. We have decided to visit the cable car at Tung Chung which takes you up to the village of Ngong Ping and a Big Buddha which I think is the biggest Buddha statue. The location on the top of the mountains is quite impressive although the Hong Kong haze rather spoils the view. The Town of Tung Chung was a town of skyscraper tower blocks similar to Hong Kong City. Our lasting impression of Hong Kong and is a a city of millions of people living in tower blocks, a very clean and efficient place with loads of shopping malls, markets, restaurants and people. There are very few green spaces but every tiny bit of green space is used for recreation purposes and there are exercise stations everywhere and the older generation are all outside exercising even if it's only Tai Chi.
We are now off to Sydney where bush fires in the Blue Mountains are causing concern.
