So we left Witney 24 hours ago Graham newly retired , and walked down the road with our bags to get the S1 bus to Oxford . We are now settled in to our cosy room in Hong Kong where it is 11pm .We have sampled the night life of the Soho region of HK with niece Laura, where we enjoyed our first meal in a restaurant whilst watching people go by on the street escalator.
The journey was on the whole pretty uneventful but I managed to be searched at the airport as my new Teva shoes seem to set off the alarms. I was then stopped by a masked lady who I assume was looking for potential carriers of diseases, she lifted my hair to examine my forehead and then decided I was fit to be let into Hong Kong.
We caught the train from the airport which is all very efficient to the city centre where Laura met us and we walked to our hotel which probably was quicker than catching a taxi as the roads were pretty gridlocked.
Our hotel is 35 floors high but there are only 4 rooms per floor which is typical Hong Kong, a bit squeezed in. We have a harbour view from the room and the door to bathroom is also clear glass so we can enjoy the same view from the toilet!
Laura has planned a sightseeing itinerary, Graham is researching geocaches and suggesting a harbour side run in the morning, so hopefully we will be adapted to Hong Kong time tomorrow.
So that's day 1 done , goodnight .
Why can everyone else manage to sleep on a plane!! Either back, neck or leg ache never mind full marks to the eye mask design team. Comfortable and kept all the light out.
