Day 4: ASWAN

This morning was a 3am wake up call at which we were very unimpressed at but had to catch the police convoy to travel to abu simbel, yes another brekkie in a box situation! having not stopped for 3 hours we arrived at abu simbel and having waited for kim for about 30 minutes in the toilet we proceeded to the temples, however we literally walked down, saw the outside and took a couple of photos before brims stomach decided it was going to heave all it could, yes e went back to the toilet! we journeyed back for 3 hours in order to board the feluccas!!! the 2 boats were joined together today adn we just drifted, swimming in the nile with ropes as the current was well strong, it was beautifully clean and crystal clear, lovelly and refreshing! Our dinner was a romantic affair of pasta, soup and shish kebabs by candlelight under the stars! we then went to a local nubian house and had more shisha and aquired some lovelly henna tatooes, we then settled down for our first night under the stars!

Day 5: ASWAN

We set sail and being on the better boat left the other boat for dust. after breckfast we chilled out and learnt to play b****** (sorry!) courtesy of bernie, during this time we managed to lose a few cards to the nile untill the ultimate sacrifice, yes brim managed to throw the ipod speakers overboard in order to please the river gods :p we started drinkign after lunch and having docked for awhile we went fishing with the locals, we had nets and managed to catcha few fish in half an hour whereas they caught one in a few seconds with their bare hands! we docked again later having sailed for a while for the night with some other feluccas and after dinner we learnt to f*** the boat (sorry over 30's apart from uncle lyndon!). this led to some dinkey chasing to get a picture and the proposed cow tipping later (which ceased to happen!). the guys started a bonfire after a scrumptious chicken wings dinner and we were joimned by the other boats and the locals where we danced and partied round the fire to the beat of the nubian music :) ye sbrim danced all night with a little child about 8 before sitting with the locals and getting about an hours sleep!

DAY 6: LUXOR

we woke to being asail on the nile (and brim to kim s***ting in a bucket, no toher phrase could describe it!) and sadly departed from the feluccas a bit later to head to kom omba an edfu temple where we learnt about the depicments of fertility! we made it round the whole temple before kim was ill and heading to antoher edfu temple where we were harrased by a military man for a photo! we arrived at our hotel in luxor where kim proceeded to hit the pool and brim slept for hours on end! in the evening we took a horse drawn carriage to luxor temple where we saw the beauty of the temple at night lit up. we got some amazing pictures before brim started heaving and got gven an authentic bath from a local (he poured water on her!) we went back to the hotel and went to local restaurant for some din dinsbefore crashing for another early wake up call :(

Day 7: LUXOR

another early wake up at 5:30 am for a donkey ride (yes it was hilarious amongst shouts of yella yella (go faster go faster) to the hatshepsut temple. we then went to the valley of the kings to see 3 of the tombs, the best one being ramsey 3rds, where we climbed about a million steps up the the entrance and the a million steps down the the chamber in the sweltering heat ( no need for the gym just do this!) and being plunged in darkness when the generator broke! The last temple was karnack temple which was boiling and covered 75 acres, it was unfinished shwoing how the temple were built using a mud and brick ramp, very clever! we then looked very silly making a wish by the largest scarab in egypt and prancing round it 4 times, minus renee and james! we went back to the same restaurant for lunch and then headed to the local markets where greg offered us for sale for half a chicken and an egg! we then headed to the train station to board the local train back to cairo, where due to renee and james not wishing the trian was 2 hours late and we were waiting for 3 hours!!! slept thru the night thankfulyl managin to avoid minging toilets!!
