Woke up at about 9am - didn't sleep that bad actually. Got a bit cold during the night so shoved my hoody on, then this morning it was really warm. Therese slept well too. Couldn't wait to get off the train though at 9.30am...no, no delayed until 12.30pm!!!
So, finally arrived in Hanoi, and then had to get a mini-bus for a 4 hour drive to Halong...
Long and tiring day.
We checked into Ha Long Hotel and had an our to get sorted, then went out for some food. Went to a little locals type place close by, but the food wasn't good at all - cheap though. Vietnamese food lacks flavour to us, nothing near as good as Thai food - we have had a few good meals, but mostly not. Was really looking forward to trying Vietnamese food as well!
We had a wander around the night market...which was absolutely rubbish. There were two types of stalls - souvenirs stall with stuff like woodwork, or clothes stall. And there was about 30 of each that sold exactly the same things.
The highlight of the Market was Sue snapping her flip flop, the part between the toes, and struggling to walk home - the women running the stalls were all laughing at her...but strangely, not one tried to sell her some flip flops!
Not much to do around where we were so we decided to head back to our rooms at about 9.30pm - watched the film Eagle Eye.
Early start in the morning as well, tour starts at 7.45...
