Well, it's the first time I've had to do this, three days in one blog!
The weather hasn't been great. On the 6th and 7th it was thick of cloud all the time, with very occasional light drizzle. That is not ideal weather for an island at all!
So there's not much to do when it's like that. We walked around, sat in a cafe, went on the Internet, sat in our bungalow, walked around a bit more...we tried to make the most of it, but a beach resort needs sunshine.
Then two nights when we were going to go out drinking it started raining so we cut the night short.
We were really sick of it and had to decide what to do. The rest of the islands are exactly the same with crap weather. Go back to Bangkok? Go back to Chiang Mai? Well, we decided to have one more night in Phi Phi and leave on the 9th to go to Kuala Lumpur. It means 6 nights in KL then 7 nights in Singapore, which were originally 3 and 4 nights in each. We don't want to stay in the islands for the sake of it and there's more to do in cities if the weather isn't that great.
So we booked our flight for £60 each with AirAsia from Krabi to Kuala Lumpur. Then booked our accommodation for 6 nights, which has cost more than we hoped to pay but the good cheap ones are fully booked! £30 a night isn't too bad and we are really in need of a decent nights sleep. The place we're at in Phi Phi has lovely grounds but the bungalows themselves have thin walls so we can hear everything - music from the beach until 2am, people coming back to their rooms or up early in a morning, and people arguing. There was a couple opposite us having a massive argument. Actually, it was just the woman screaming Chinese words at her partner. It went on for ages so I told security to go sort them out. Therese was twitching at the curtains all the time as well.
Then, this morning (the 8th) we were woken up by....sunshine beaming through our windows!! Really blue skies with very few light scattered clouds. We got sorted and got to the beach as quickly as we could. Spent the whole day there. Typically, I didn't feel so good today. From waking up I had headache and aching joints. Being in the sun all day probably wasn't the best thing to do, but I've paid for this sun so I'm damn well going to lay in it! We both picked up a good tan too. It was really scorching hot, and the sea is lovely and warm.
But how typical is that!! Book somewhere and then the sun comes out. If it's sunny in the morning we'll be so annoyed!!
Phi Phi wasn't what we expected. Overcrowded, cramped streets, lots of building work, quite dirty in parts...maybe things were different here before the tsunami. There are secluded resorts on the island, so maybe it's better to stick to them and go on the boat trips.
We're never going to see it at it's best when it's not sunny either.
Oh well, I think we'll be coming back to the islands again sometime in the future as there's quite a few we'd like to visit.

Michelle Well at least you've been there and seen it, thats all the matters and of course you need good weather to enjoy it aswell!! Glad you've managed a good day on the beach and caught the sun. I'm abit rough from last night, ha so I'm just gonna lay down for half an hour whilst little man sleeps! Take care and hopefully speak to you soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Chris Rainey Stop Complaining! It's better than working on Drop 4! Also the weather here has been freezing : - 10C, -15C etc. So its sounds like paradise there. When I get chance I shall read your other blogs. Sounds good. Have fun Chris
Lee Chris, that put a big smile on my face and a spring in my step. No Drops to think about...bliss. Now back to the sunshine and lovely humidity of KL...
