Well, didn't feel that bad this morning, but we did have nearly 9 hours sleep. I'm sure I heard some preaching from the monks over speakerphone this morning! Had to be up at 9 though to get packed and go get our mini-bus back to Luang Prabang at 11am.
We got there for about 10.50am. Well, we waited, and waited and by 11.30am I rang the Stray office and spoke to somebody to see where the bus was. They said they would find out and ring back. Took them about 15 minutes..."sorry, the bus forgot to pick you up" said this woman!! Nice one. We have a flight tomorrow as well!! She was very apologetic and in the end she said book a mini bus with another company and we'll also pay for your accommodation tonight. That's not so bad because it saves us £20, but the next bus wasn't until 2pm so we had to wait around another 2 hours! And the bus takes 6 hours so we won't get there until 8pm...
So, we got all that sorted and then went to relax in a bar and obviously watch some Friends...
I tries uploading some photos and stuff too but didn't get very far because the Internet's crap.
Finally got our mini-van anyway. It was like a people carrier and actually more comfortable than the Stray bus.
The journey was amazing once again - the scenery is just something else.
People live right out there in the mountains. You get to see them going about their daily lives as well. They do have electricity but they mostly live in wooden houses with the the thatch roofs. Little boys and girls playing around with mucky faces waving as we drove past. Then occasionally you'd see some people getting a shower on the roadside, starkers! There's always some sort of animal on the road - cow, water buffalo, chickens, ducks...there was alone of ducks that we had to go around, they weren't stopping for nothing, waddling across the road. There were a load if little chicks that we very nearly ran over too.
9pm by the time we got to our guesthouse. Really annoying because we wanted to do a few things and we didn't even really have enough time if we'd actually have got the earlier bus!
Actually, what was more annoying was when we got off the tuk tuk at the guesthouse and Therese realised we'd forgotten a plastic bag with our trainers in t the bus station!!! The tuk-tuk guy didn't have a clue what we were talking about, but eventually he got the idea. We had to pay him 50,000 Kip (£4) for a round-trip to the bus station. We were just so annoyed and stressed because it's been a really long day and we've just been waiting around all the time.
9.30pm by the time we got out. We weren't going to so much because I think our stress levels were too high and we couldn't be arsed. But we decided to just make the most of it and got a tuk-tuk to Utopia for some chilled put relaxation time! Starving too, haven't eaten since this morning when we shared a ham and egg roll.
So we're just going to chill out here for a couple of hours, no mad drinking night tonight!! It's the perfect bar for relaxing as well, it's the one I wrote about the other day. There's a random game of volleyball going on behind me...volleyball, in a bar, at 11pm...
And that's all I can be bothered writing today...
Right, I've put about 4 blogs on tonight, so make sure you read them all!! They're for Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng.
