Another torch in our face and it was time to get up. It was half 4 so we had half an hour to pack up, get washed and get on the bus. Back at the sunrise view point I decided it would be romantic if me n lee sat on the floor, on top of my sleeping bag.... Lee hates sitting on the floor but for the love of moi he did it whilst everyone else sat on the fence. Next minute there was a ruffle in the bushes and a pigging dingo jumped out. All I could hear in my head is 'a dingo stole my baby' so I froze and held my breath. Ace venture Lee Harris shone his torch at it (its pretty dark at 5am). The dingo ran off and so did I, on to the fence with everyone else and left Lee! So we decided to watch sunrise from the fence. We got some fab pics but they just didn't look the same as what we could see. It's so naturally beautiful the way everything is lit with an array of colours. The camera just couldn't do it justice.
Breakfast was being prepared as we took pics and watched the world change colour so we eat up and headed back to Uluru for a 2 hour base walk. It wasn't too hot but the flies must have been getting extra frisky because they were out in force today.
As we walked we saw our own stories unfold. One indent in the rock, we thought, looked like pac man. As we tittered at the likeness we walked past a rock that had broken away. It looked a lot like pac man too, so we decided... Pac man was the protector, working its way around Uluru when a lightening bolt struck him. The force of the bolt left an imprint in the rock and poor pac mans body was left to wilt at the bottom. You've got to amuse yourself. Two hours felt like ages!
After the walk we dropped the happy lady and a few others at the airport then headed back to Alice Springs. We stopped at the services for a picnic of wraps prepared outside the petrol pumps, with hundreds of flies sampling the food then continued on the road back.
It's a long drive back so me and lee decided to play naughts and crosses on the window. We were too clever to let either win so we stepped it up a notch and played connect four. I won! 3-0. An embarrassing loss for Lee so we moved on to hangman. I must have been on fire because even with movie titles as the subject I still won. Boom! Ha
We got back at the hostel, checked into our room (which btw had been upgraded to a double room - no other roomies), did the washing, showered and headed out to the backpackers bar to meet up with everyone for a few drinks. They played limbo, which Lee joined in (I couldn't because I had a dress on and thought it would be a little rude) then we all walked back together. One of the girls was saying in her guide book she was told to get a taxi after 7 when in Alice Springs.... There's a few people who don't look fully there so we decided to just stick together. I never once saw a taxi. Everything's within walking distance anyway.
