5am came round pretty quick. We walked in Angkor Wat grounds and managed to find a spot to take pics. Then a little girl, who was trying to get people to come and eat at her families stall, saw my pic and told me where to stand to make 5 towers 10! I got an amazing picture! The cutest little boy had already dragged lee off to eat at his stall so she wasn't doing it for money, she just smiled and walked off. After the sun rose we went for a walk around Angkor Wat. The art on the walls was amazing. They had been chiseled into the wall. Some parts were undergoing restoration, areas were blocked off, it was a maze. There was an eire, strange feeling inside. I didn't like it in there. It felt like someone was watching us?! So we left for the tuk tuk.
We spent the next few hours going from temple to temple on Angkor Wat grounds via the tuk tuk (It was 16usd to hire the tuk tuk for the day). Some of the stairs on the temples were so steep, with no handrail on some, we were both a little scared going up n down. At every temple there were little children trying to sell bracelets, postcards and magnets. We ended up buying 2 postcards. This little boy about 4-5 wanted to sell us 10 postcards in a pack for 1usd so I said how about 2 for 50cents. He nearly wee'd himself with excitement?!? Then a little girl looked at me and asked if I'd buy her bracelets. So i'm now the proud owner of a pink and black handmade bracelet also 50cents :/
The temples can get a bit boring so we pretended to the tuk tuk driver, Sim, that we were walking around one of temples but instead we sat and wrote our postcards :) Lee was happy with one of the final temples because it had something to do with the tomb raiser film. Oh yeah in another temple there was a little girl who'd seen my phone and asked if she could play angry birds on it, then she doodled a pic of me, she played Dora... Bout 20 mins later I said sorry I'm going to have to go so she jumped up and showed us where she thought a good pic would be inside the temple (it's the one were its a window in a window in a window...) I said thank you and good bye then she asked for money? I gave her 400 reil (about 5-10p) and she looked at me like lee had just pumped in her face! She said 'can I not get a dollar' - for what? Using all my battery life on my phone? So I said no! And walked off. I was gutted. I thought she was my little friend but it was a ploy to get money :(
Anyway the tour ended at the river (with more people trying to sell) so we jumped in the tuk tuk and got dropped off back in tge centre of Sien Reap. After all that walking we decided to treat ourselves to a foot scrub at Master feet. The best dollar spent yet! Lee has lost half his toe! Ewe
We found a little rooftop mezze that was beautiful inside. We had a couple of cocktails then headed back to the guesthouse. We're off to Phnom penh via bus (6usd pp) at 7:30am tomorrow!
