So we woke up in Haks and waited for the minibus. It was meant to be there for 7:30... It came 8:25. This was the transport to get us to the bus station for the bus leaving at 8:30.... They're so laid back! They just took us further and met the bus on the route!
It's a 6 hour bus ride to Phnom penh, it seemed to fly? There was a 20min stop half way were there was stall selling deep fried crickets... Nope couldn't do it! A girl on the bus bought a bag and was offering them around... Nope both me and lee still couldn't. Lee actually said 'i want to try them but I'm just not in the mood right now'.... Ha?
We arrived just over 6 hours later in phnom penh centre so we jumped on a tuk tuk to the guesthouse (1usd). They were so friendly! The staff speak almost perfect English. Once we'd thrown our things in the room we came down to the bar and got a drink. They gave us a map and told us all the points of interest, costs and how to get about. They then invited us on a cruise for the sunset, on the Mekong river, for 6usd pp so we agreed and 2 hours later we were aboard the boat. There were English, Australian, American, Irish and Scottish on the boat. We ended up going out for tea with some of the people on the boat after we'd docked. There is a restaurant that takes children who are working on the street and trains them to speak English and to work in hospitality. So we went there. Lee ordered tarantula for a side with beef and red ant for his main!!! I tried a bit of the tarantulas leg, i know it sounds awful but it just tasted of deep fried nothingness.. Lee ate the body (supposedly him conquering his fear) the texture was like a hard boiled egg but again the taste was fried nothingness. They said they have live tarantula in the kitchen,.. Next minute he had one crawling up his arm! Lee nearly ran through the wall ha! I had a little hold but it freaked me out! I like meat but I don't want to make friends with it before I eat it! Plus if that spider saw its mates dead and deep fried on the table, venom or not, it might try and attack me!!!
We eat up, said goodbye and headed back to the guesthouse to chat to the fambo on Skype before going asleep!
