Today we woke, ate breakfast and then booked a trip to see the killing fields, genocide museum and the Russian markets. The tuk tuk takes you and waits for 15usd.
1st stop the killing fields. It's 5usd to get in then you are given a headset and a map. All I can say is what an awful horrific eye opener. I didn't know anything about it really. As we made our way around the mass graves the story continued... By the time I got to the killing tree I had to take the headset off. The tree was used to kill babies by holding them by the ankles... Horrific! We went to the genocide museum but after the first cell I wanted to leave. I left lee to walk around but he too had had enough. Each cell told the same end just a different evil way. We'd drove past the Russian market on the way... There's so many markets, we decided to just go back and have something to eat. We got dropped off outside the palace and walked back towards the guesthouse.
Once changed we took a stroll through the streets. We went the night market were locals were sitting on mats on the floor eating from the stalls. It looked cool but with us having a 4 hour bus journey tomorrow to Sihanoukville we decided to eat somewhere else.
Great! We realized after we'd ordered that the bar we were in was like Blind date. Men were sitting seperately on tables and slowly but surely Cambodian ladies came and sat with them. Ha Every table but ours looked like they were on a 'date'. We ate up and left - to free up a table!
We found an ice cream parlor then came back to the guesthouse and sat chatting to the staff in the bar. We're getting picked up at 7:45 in the morning for the bus to the beach... Can't wait!!!!
