We got our bags from the bus and decided to walk to the hostel. It wasn't a big walk but we saw some strange sights. There were cable cars going up a hill to our right then to our left was a park. People were selling jewellery, popcorn, miniature pony rides, lama rides, people were kissing on benches like it was a competition to lick the other persons insides first. A whole road was covered in second hand book stalls. We walked past rundown looking buildings then a pristine convent painted white. Further up the street were historical looking buildings with pretty architecture then our hostel. We nearly walked past it because it was just a door in a wall. We rang the buzzer and headed in. The man, Diego showed us to our room, gave us a map of the town and handed over the key. We threw our things in and headed for a cash machine and the supermarket. We bought food for the next few days and headed back. Diego came to see us to let us know they were having a BBQ tonight. We'd already bought all our food so we said we'd join them just for a drink. We started cooking our food. We had beef fajitas! Then we cracked open the wine I'd won on the bus. There was a girl called Vee in the kitchen. She introduced herself then another girl came into the kitchen and gave us all a kiss on the cheek and introduced herself. She was from Buenos Aires. In Argentina they greet each other with a kiss on the cheek as a friendly hello. Even men on men. It was strange for us at first but it's really a lovely tradition. It stops you from feeling like an outcast in a new place. We all went to the roof whilst Diego started the BBQ. We listened to music, chatted and drank. There was a young english couple so lee chatted away whilst i went to get a shower. I came back as the food was served I had my bottle of red for me and Lee. Diego gave us a chorizo sausage he'd cooked that he insisted we had to try with our red wine. It worked. Our mouths were experiencing a new taste sensation. More so mine because I'm drinking red!!! A girl came mid way through the BBQ. She had been couch surfing around South America. It's basically a website that allows people to sleep on other people's sofa free of charge. She had been in touch with Diego.
When it got to 12 we called it a night.
