Wed 2nd Dec...

Caught our ferry, or should I say tin barge, to Siem Reap. Boat was as basic as they come but what an amazing journey up the Tonle Sap Lake (which is huge!). Piled the sunscreen on, as the trip takes about 6hours and you sit on top of this barge for the whole time (you can go inside but it's like a hot box). Very interesting toilet! Anyway, it's amazing as you see all the floating/stilted villages and fisherman going about their daily fish. This was a big highlight!

Arrived in Siem Reap, TT'd it to the hotel (Tara Ankor - AMAZING!) and chilled by the pool the rest of the day.

Thurs 3rd/Fri 4th Dec...

Tuk Tuk (TT) around town - we have arranged the same driver for the whole time we are here and he is great. Took us to the Genocide monument and temple, the Old Market (made a few more purchases) and a fab local restaurant (off the beaten track) for lunch. We tried some local curry dishes which were very tasty indeed.
Floating Villages - took a boat tour (which landed up being us and 2 Americans which we made friends with - Nate and Winnie) to the nearby floating village which was great. It's unbelievable how these families live from day to day with so little - a very humbling experience. Our guide was hilereous, 'Sin by name, sin by nature'he told us Lol. After the floating village tour, we then hoped on board a big boat to have dinner and watch the sunset, one again AMAZING! Reminded us of being on a houseboat on Kariba.
Temples - We had a very early start at 5am, as we watched the sunrise at Ankor Wat (the biggest budist temple in the world). Too much to say but what a day, these temples (most of which are ruins, some are being restored) are unbelievable! They span over many km's, so we just hope on our TT to get from one to the other.

We have been chilling at the pool this afternoon and are heading our shortly to watch the sun set at Ankor Wat...so TBC....
