When we arrived at camp we had a look round and then an introduction video to the different activities we can do here. We signed up for white water rafting and devils pool. We put up our tents then relaxed by the pool. Just after sunset a group of elephants came for dinner just outside our camp site pulling down trees, we had to sit and watch from behind the fence surrounding our camp, for once we were the ones in a cage and they were free to roam.
Friday we left for white water rafting at 8:00 and headed to Zambizi river. All bar 1 in our group signed up, Ben and I were in a raft with greg , aby, kieran, arun and anu. We rafted 30k down the Zambezi river going through 25 rapids which were category 1-5. It was terrifying but fun at the same time. Ben came out the raft twice and Laura once when the rafts flipped. Ben had to save Laura (we have it on video!!!!) and Arun, we were both very impressed with Arun and Anu as neither of them could swim so this was extra scary for them. When we got back to camp we all hit happy hour - $1 a beer which is 60p for us!! Brill!
Saturday majority of us had dodgy tummy's from the intake of river water, we all compared war wounds - bruised legs known as 'zimbazi tattoo'. We went to Victoria Falls bridge to watch Adriene, Holly, Greg and Aby do 'big air' - a bungee, swing and zip wire from the bridge. After we headed to Vic Falls national park to view the falls, it is very impressive however we are in the low season therefore the flow of water is not as strong as the high season leaving some parts of the falls completely dry. In high season 5 cubic metres of water fall per second, we have been told that the amount of water that falls in 3 days is what Australia use in a year, it would be awesome to see the falls in their full power however we would have not been able to do the activities we have done with the falls in thier full state. Most people on our trip finish in Livingstone including John and Patrick who now take clients on the reverse route to us up to Nairobi therefore at 18:00 we had our meeting. Our new CEO is Coleen and our driver is Lezinda, we are continuing onto Cape Town with Adrienne, Ling, Mary and Kieran and we have been joined by Toby, Mathias & Magda from Germany and Shane from Ireland. Today Laura got attacked by a monkey, again Ben came to the rescue!! Laura will no longer walk around the campsite alone!!!
Sunday we had to say goodbye to Sam, Musashi, Holly, Arun and Anu, Greg and Aby who are either going home or moving on to Joburg or Cape Town. Adrienne, Mary, Ling and us went to devils pool at 10:00. We had to go to a fancy hotel which apparently costs $800 a night! Then catch their speed boat across to Livingstone Island watching out for hippos along the way. From Livingstone Island we walked to the edge of the waterfall for pictures, then to get to devils pool we had to swim across the current of the waterfall which was....interesting, Laura swimming for her life and Ben just doggy paddling with his Go pro behind! Devils pool was so good, a guy stood on the edge to take our pictures! After we were served a very fancy breakfast in a canopy on top of the falls. We spent the rest of the day relaxing and getting our stuff ready as tomorrow we head to Botswana. We loved Livingstone!!! Ben wants to bring all his friends here as there is so many activities to do!
