Pushkar, India - Arrived here about lunch time. Had a lovely lunch at the Moondance Cafe, sitting in a beautiful garden. Pushkar was an awesome place, my favourite of India i think. Wish we could have stayed a bit longer. There is still the hassle from shops but its got a more friendly and chilled out feel. probably because its holy and the old wacky backy is quite an in thing! Lots of western people were about - many hippies inparticular. After mooching down the length of Pushkar's shopping street we went to the lake for senset but unfortunately it was cloudy. We sat and had a drink at Sunset Cafe and absorbed the atmosphere - amazing drummers were playing. the boys stayed and Sara and I went back for some more shopping... some guy in the street tried to sell us 'GOOD HASH'!! I just laughed. We then had a meal at the same place. We had been told about a crazy french canadian guy who dances around the streets of Pushkar completely wacked out on weed, we saw him in the cafe and he was completely hilarious...did some funky crazy dancing. We headed back to the hotel when we saw our driver in quite a boozy state! I was not amused as following day our journey was a big one back to Delhi. We were all meant to go on a camel ride in the morning but the boys just went as Sara and i had been on camels before and we wanted to get snacks for the journey back to Delhi.
We left around 11.30 and that day we really did see it all! In the morning on our trip to get snacks we saw a dog and puppies eating a bird, we saw men freely blowing their nose in the street. On the journey we saw a lorry totally flipped over, a woman being sick from a bus window and as we approached Delhi, we experienced about 5 lanes of traffic being crammed into what should have been 3! - some parts of india i just don't miss! We didn't arrive back to delhi until about 8pm. Was a long long trip. Had a night before flying the following day and funnily enough as soon as being back in Delhi i got a funny tummy. Managed to get my parcel with camera lead, really thought it was lost so that was a huge relief.
Overall India was truly an unforgettably experience. It took me on a rollercoaster ride through every emotion. Some of the things you see are sad, some are happy and overall it is a culture that is so many miles apart from ours that you learn to harden yourself to the difficult things and thats only in three weeks. There is still so much of the country to see and i'd love to travel round Southern india perhaps in the future.
