Day 1
We arrived in New York in the afternoon after delays in the airport from Las Vegas. We caught three trains to our hostel which has been the worst yet. They had little facilities and was run down. However the location was good - on the upper west side and we met some really cool and friendly people.
Day 2
We visited Times Square and then spent the day in Central Park. We saw the Strawberry fields - memorial for John Lennon and the Sheeps Medow etc. Later we saw Shakespear in the Park - Romeo and Juliet which was really good and FREE. The cast was full of many popular actors of Law and Order and Six feet Under.
Day 3
We started our bus tour of lower manhattan. It was very interesting. We visited many spots, Greenwhich Village, Soho, World Trade centre, Rockofella Centre etc. We also went on a river cruise to see the Lady of Liberty and Brooklyn bridge.
We later later went to the pier and brought Broadway tickets to see Tarzan that Evening. The production was quite funny and very enjoyable.
Day 4
We did a tour of the upper west side and the upper east side. Not quite as interesting as lower NYC but amazing real estate on the East and great museums. We visited the Museum of Design and The American Museum of Natural History, which is huge. The largest collection of dinosaurs fossils in the world.
Day 5
Today we visited The Empire State building, which offers great views of the entire city. We then went on our tour of Brooklyn. This is were most people live so is mainly residential. We later found out that there had been 3 shootings the day before and 1 on the day we were there.
We spent the aternoon shopping and looking around and then we did a night tour of the city in the day light! As it does not get dark until about 9pm. We could not see any city lights. We finished our tour in Times Square which is amazing to see in the evening.
Day 6
Our day was full of walking around Lower Manhattan and shopping in Soho, China Town Fith Avenue/Fashion Avenue and the pier. We later dined at a stylish Vietnamese restaurant.
